Roland-Story apparently liked shooting the basketball in the new Greene County gym on Saturday as the Norsemen handily swept a makeup Heart of Iowa Activities Conference girl/boy doubleheader from the Rams. The Class 3A number 9 R-S girls won 59-26 and the 2A tenth ranked R-S boys were 91-55 winners. Both games were heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.

R-S made nine three-pointers in the girls’ game to improve to 8-0 in the conference and 11-4 overall while the Rams made a pair of three’s, both by Sadie Wilson, and Greene County fell to 5-9 and 2-6. Makala Kafer led the Rams with 12 points and Wilson had six. Eleven different R-S players scored two or more points, led by 14 from Regan Barkema and 10 for Jadyn Nelson. Greene County had 25 turnovers (nine below their average) to 15 TO for the Norsemen. The continuous clock with a margin of at least 35 points went into effect in the fourth quarter.

R-S made 11 three’s in the boys game and scored a season high in rolling to 8-0 in the HOIAC and 13-2 overall. The Rams made nine three-pointers and fell to 4-11 and 2-6. R-S had 11 players with at least two points with 23 by Sam Skaar, 14 by Will Bunn, and 13 from Jonovan Wilkinson. Richard Daugherty had five three’s and 19 points for the Rams with 10 points for Bryce Stalder and eight apiece from Max Riley and Braeden Roberts. Greene County turned the ball over 11 times and R-S had only eight turnovers. The Norsemen were 37 of 64 from the floor while the Rams were 21 of 50.

Next up for the Rams is a Monday non-conference girl/boy doubleheader in Harlan on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com vs. Harlan Community. The girls play at 6 p.m. with the boys to follow.
