With the recent snow storm piling up the snow around Dallas County, it’s important to remember to clear around your fire hydrants. 

Perry Public Works Director Jack Butler says it’s important to keep your fire hydrants clear because if the fire hydrant were to be plugged up with snow it could potentially cause issues for the fire department or they could have problems getting to the fire hydrant. 

Also, Butler says it’s important to remember to clear sidewalks of snow as there are multiple ordinances related to residents scooping their sidewalks within a certain time period after a snow event.
