Since the COVID-19 vaccinations began to be administered , the timeline for these vaccinations has often changed.
Dallas County Health Department Public Information Officer Ann Cochran says it’s important for people to understand that getting everyone vaccinated will be a lengthy process and it won’t happen within the next month or two.
“We want to emphasize to people that just here in Dallas County there are 11,000 people who are age 65 and older. And we aren’t being allocated anywhere near that many doses of vaccine. It is going to take a number of shipments of doses to Dallas County before we have enough just for the people who are over age 65.”
Cochran says they ask people to continue to be patient even though it can be hard to do when people are ready to get a little bit more freedom to do things. She reminds everyone that they are in the beginning stages of administering the vaccine to those in Phase 1B Tier 1 priority group.
