The Perry Public Library continues to be closed to the public as the pandemic drags on, but plans are starting to take shape of when the building could reopen.

Library Director Mary Murphy says that library staff are of course ready to open the library back up to patrons but haven’t made a plan or a time when that could possibly happen. Murphy describes how things would operate differently if the library were to open.

“Our services would start out with just browsing. So you would be limited to just browsing the stacks. All of the soft furniture has been removed so you can’t really sit down anywhere. We would really encourage you to browse and check out and leave.”

Murphy says she knows that seems a little abrupt but the library’s focus would be ensuring the safety of its patrons while continuing to  offer services.
