With Iowa being in the thick of winter and already receiving several blankets of snow, it’s important to be aware of other winter weather that can hit your area.
According to the Dallas County Emergency Management Agency, ice storms can cause a wide variety of issues when they impact your area including power outages that can last a few days. They recommend stocking up on at least a week’s worth of food and prescription medications and keeping your electronic devices charged.
Other helpful reminders include trimming weak or damaged branches around your home as ice can cause them to break, potentially damaging your home or vehicle if parked underneath trees.
