Nursing and assisted living homes, as well as long term care facilities are wrapping up their first doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.

Greene County Public Health Director Becky Wolf says The Gardens Assisted Living and Regency Park Nursing and Rehabilitation in Jefferson contracted with the National Pharmacy Program to receive the first dose of the vaccine. She notes that “strike teams” go into the facilities and administer the vaccines to staff as well as residents.

“That takes a huge weight off of public health to do that. They did start giving those vaccines to both of those facilities in the last week or so. They should be wrapping up that first dose by the end of this week.”

Wolf points out that public health administered the vaccine to all of the long term care residents at Greene County Medical Center around New Years Eve and have started to give the second dose earlier this week. She adds the two nursing and assisted living facilities will receive the second dose of the vaccine by the end of next month.
