The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Thursday.

During open forum, there was a lengthy report by Greene County Attorney Thomas Laehn about a recent meeting he attended with the Bell Tower Community Foundation regarding the music policy. He said the Bell Tower Community Foundation recommended to continue to allow outside groups to make music requests. Laehn suggested to the Board that they will need to consider the advantages and disadvantages of allowing that practice to continue, along with setting policies of who can perform live music and the digitized, pre-programmed music selections. The Board took no action following the discussion.

The Board then approved two provisional policies regarding courthouse security cameras and access to the building. Some of the highlights for the security cameras included recording only video footage, unless otherwise requested by the Supervisors to record audio, outside of the Greene County Sheriff, County Dispatchers and the County’s Information Technology Manager, no one else is permitted to view live or recorded footage without authorization by the sheriff or County Auditor. Some of the highlights for accessing the building included distributing key fobs to certain county employees with unrestricted access, some with limited access and the public can request a key fob for a meeting or event by submitting an application and having it approved. The courthouse will also be automatically locked, except for normal business hours of 8am-4:30pm Monday through Friday. All policies will be finalized at a future meeting.

Finally, the Board unanimously approved a 2.5-percent raise for elected county officials, and a 4.16-percent increase for county sheriff. The Compensation Board recommended a three-percent across the board raise, with the sheriff receiving a five-percent increase.
