Adel-Desoto-Minburn girls basketball was finally able to get over the hump and pull off the upset on Thursday night against the number 15 Boone Toreadors winning by the score 36-32 in Adel. The Tigers trailed 18-15 at halftime, and trailed by 9 halfway through the third quarter of play, but were able to step it up defensively and get some big stops throughout key stretches in the game.
ADM was able to hold Boone 21 points below their season average in the victory, holding the Toreadors below 40% from the field and holding them well below their average on their three points made.
Senior AJ Smith was able to lead the Tigers in scoring with 12 points, and also helping slow down Boones leading scorer on the other end as well. ADM played well despite being without one of their top players in senior Grace Hardcastle, but were able to get key minutes out of everyone who hit the floor.
In a unique scheduling scenario, ADM will be back on the court tonight against Boone in Boone, as they will look for their second consecutive win.
