special-session

The Stuart City Council set a public hearing date to consider the maximum tax levy for fiscal year 2022 at its special session Monday night.

The hearing will be the next council meeting February 8 at 6:30 p.m. The city is estimating the tax rate will remain the same at $16.49 per $1,000 valuation.

City Administrator Ashran Ashouf said it was a great accomplishment to keep that rate steady considering the coronavirus pandemic in 2020.

In other business, the Council tabled the lease for new ownership of the All Saints Center to consult the City Attorney concerning tax abatements.
