The Guthrie Center City Council pushed back their public hearing for the maximum property tax levy to February 22 as part of its regular meeting Tuesday night.
Then, the Council set another public hearing date for Housing and Community Needs Assessment for February 8. Additionally, they set the Utility Board of Trustees’ Compensation for $400 per year.
The Council discussed a mandated COVID-19 vaccination policy for city employees, but declined to take action on the issue. Mayor Mike Herbert questioned the legality of mandating the vaccine, while City Administrator Laura Wolfe pointed out that the city would be liable if someone had a negative reaction to a mandated vaccine.
Councilmembers then discussed the city’s budget and the building up of the Local Option Sales Tax funds for city projects like street overlays.
