Despite the dry conditions, residents in some Guthrie County communities are reminded of their respective snow ordinances whenever a snow event happens.
Guthrie Center City Hall reminds the public that vehicles must be removed from the streets during snow events and all snow and ice must be removed from sidewalks within 10 hours of accumulation. The emergency parking bans will be in effect when snowfall begins.
The snow ordinance in Stuart is in effect through April 1, when there is a snow event, all vehicles must be clear of the streets as well as City-owned off-street parking areas. Ice and snow accumulations must be removed from sidewalks within 48 hours.
In Panora, the City asks that no vehicles be left on public streets until the road is plowed or 48 hours after the snow event finishes. Property owners must remove or treat snow and ice on sidewalks within 24 hours.
Refusal to remove the snow within the allotted time in any of these communities may result in the City hiring a private contractor to remove the snow and assessing the cost for removal to the property owner.
