The new Greene County High School in Jefferson hosts the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference wrestling tournament today starting at 5 o’clock. This marks the first wrestling event held in the new gym and the Rams welcome, Nevada, PCM (Monroe), Roland-Story (Story City), Saydel (Des Moines), South Hamilton (Jewell) and West Marshall (State Center). Activities Director Todd Gordon told Raccoon Valley Radio attendance by the public will be limited to two spectators per wrestler due to COVID-19 concerns. Coach Zach Beekman’s Rams recently scheduled a tournament for this Saturday, so after wrestling Friday night, Greene County goes to Urbandale HS for the Ed Winger Classic starting at 10 a.m.
Paton-Churdan plays a girl/boy basketball doubleheader vs. Coon Rapids-Bayard in Coon Rapids tonight. The P-C girls and CR-B boys were winners last month in the first meeting between the two longtime rivals.
