Exira/Elk Horn-Kimballton won both ends of a Rolling Valley Activities Conference basketball doubleheader in Churdan over Paton-Churdan on Tuesday night. The girls final was 64-47 and the boys’ game was 79-54.
The girls’ contest was among the top two teams in the conference. The Class 1A undefeated Spartans now have a two game lead in the league standings with the victory. The visiting team was up 34-24 at halftime and and 47-38 at the end of the third quarter. A 17-9 fourth quarter advantage for the Spartans in the last stanza put the game away. Macy Emgarten had 25 points for EEHK while Danielle Hoyle with 19 and Carmyn Paup with 13 lead the Rockets, who are now 10-3 overall.
The Spartans rolled to a 45-25 halftime lead in the boys’ game before winning by 25. Shaydon Thurman led P-C with 14 points and he added seven rebounds. Bradyn Smith had 10 points and nine rebounds, with Connor Brus and Forest Thompson each scoring seven points. Joe Carey added six points.
