Greene County and South Hamilton (Jewell) split a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference girl/boy basketball doubleheader in Jefferson on Tuesday night. The boys won 50-47 on a last second three-point basket by junior Bryce Stalder, and the girls lost 47-20 to the Hawks.

Stalder’s heroics came after the Rams climbed out of a 23-6 second quarter hole. They trailed 25-14 at the half and by as many as 13 points in the third quarter. A 20-11 scoring advantage in the third brought the Rams to within 36-34 heading into the final quarter. SH went just one for six at the free throw line down the stretch while the Rams were five for six in the closing moments. With the game tied 47-47 and less than 15 seconds left on the clock, SH missed two free throws. The Rams rebounded, missed a shot, got the offensive rebound and found Stalder open on the far wing for the winning shot. The win was the third this season, the second in as many nights, and the first over a team with a winning record. Stalder had 16 points and sophomore Richards Daugherty added 14; 12 in the second half. Greene County (3-8, 2-4) made 17 of 49 shots from the floor and nine of 12 from the foul line.
