The Perry Community school district received word today that the Heart of Iowa Conference approved the resolution to allow Perry to join the Heart of Iowa beginning in the fall of 2021. Perry Activities Director Scott Pierce told Raccoon Valley Radio News that the vote was 7 to nothing in favor of allowing Perry to join. Pierce indicated that the final step will be approval by the Perry School Board of Education at their regular meeting next month. The Perry school board already greenlighted the idea to leave the Raccoon River Conference and explore the possibility of joining the Heart of Iowa this past fall so it is anticipated that the board will be eager to pass it.
Pierce will join Shawn Kenney tomorrow during the Perry and Greene County basketball games and talk more about today’s decision. That conversation can be heard on 997 and 1310 KDLS, the home of Blue jay and Jayette basketball.
