A high speed chase that started in Jefferson ends with injuries to three juveniles.
Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio a Sheriff’s Deputy saw a vehicle heading north on Highway 4 in Jefferson on the overpass bridge at 5:14am Wednesday. The vehicle was clocked going over 80-miles-per-hour. Williams says when the deputy turned his emergency lights, the vehicle refused to stop, a chase then ensued.
Williams points out that during the chase, the vehicle reached speeds of over 130-miles-per-hour. He notes the deputy lost sight of the vehicle but then was notified by a Webster County Secondary Roads Department truck of a vehicle that just went into the ditch. The deputy found the vehicle near 360th Street and Baxter Avenue in Webster County.
Williams says the vehicle rolled about ten times and three juveniles suffered non-life threatening injuries and all were transported to a hospital in Fort Dodge. He adds, the driver is facing several charges, including a felony for eluding, along with traffic violations such as reckless driving, failure to stop and speeding, among others. Williams says they also found suspected marjiuana on one of the juveniles. He says the ages of those involved range in ages between 16 and 17. The matter will be turned over to Juvenile Court.
Webster County Sheriff’s Office, Farnhamville Fire and Rescue, Calhoun County EMS, Southwest Webster EMS of Gowrie and the Jefferson Police Department assisted at the scene. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
