Guthrie County New Opportunities has several different programs available to help people in need despite the building being closed.

Family Development Center Coordinator Rhonda Huggins says she understands the need to keep the building closed, but if anyone needs assistance, they’re a quick phone call away.

“If somebody wants to make an appointment, come in and maybe do some shopping in our clothes closet, we’ll do that. All they have to do is give us a call, we’ll set up a time where they can be the only ones in there for their own safety, and we’re glad to do that.”

Huggins says funding is still available from rent assistance, heating assistance and even recovery from the derecho.
