novel-coronavirus

As the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine continues in Greene County, health officials are urging everyone to remain vigilant and continue to practice the preventative guidelines.

Greene County Public Health Director Becky Wolf says preventative measures include wearing a mask when outside of your home, wash hands frequently with soap and water, stay at least six feet from others, and avoid large gatherings. Wolf notes the symptoms of COVID-19 includes a dry cough, shortness of breath, nasal congestion, sore throat, headaches and muscle aches, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Wolf says to document when you started experiencing these symptoms and wait 48 hours before you get a COVID-19 test, to ensure a better test result. She offers this advice for those waiting to get a COVID-19 test.

“In the meantime, if you are having symptoms, you need to stay home, don’t go to work and isolate yourself from other members of the household. What we say is that once a person starts having their symptoms, we count ten days out, and that is their isolation period when they should be avoiding anybody else in their house, because they are most infectious during that time.”

Wolf reminds everyone that it can take between 2 and 14 days when someone is exposed to an individual that tested positive for COVID-19 before they start experiencing symptoms.
