The Guthrie County Cattlemen’s Association postponed its annual banquet that is normally held at the end of January.
President Terry Betts says he was disappointed to have to make that decision, but he hopes they can hold a summer public picnic at the Guthrie County Fairgrounds.
“We just felt safer not to have it. I guess it’s just the year. It’s the balance of if we have it, how many people are going to show (that) kind of thing. We’re planning on doing something at the end of June, but not really a banquet, more a membership ‘thank you’ meal. We won’t have the auction or anything like that at it, just a meal for all the members.”
The Cattlemen plan to send letters to businesses and individuals to sponsor trophies for 4-H beef winners at the Guthrie County Fair. Additionally, the Cattlemen plan to crown the 2021 Guthrie County Beef Queen and Princess on January 31.
Eligibility requirements for the queen and princess contest is to be a highschool junior with parents or grandparents who are currently Cattle Association members. For more information, call Betts at 641-75-9397.
