Road conditions are improving in Greene County, following the overnight blizzard.

According to the National Weather Service, Greene and Guthrie counties had an average of five-inches of snowfall, while Dallas County saw between 6-7 inches. All that snowfall and strong winds impacted road conditions early Friday morning.

Greene County Engineer Wade Weiss tells Raccoon Valley Radio, road crews started at 5am clearing snow from the paved county roads. He adds that crews will work until 5pm today and then start clearing snow on the gravel roads tomorrow morning. Jefferson Public Works Director Dave Morlan says they started clearing snow at 4am. He points out all roads have been cleared from curb to curb and the snow ordinance is over until it snows again. Morlan adds that crews will haul snow out a second time in the downtown area and will get the final amount on Tuesday.

Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams says they responded to one vehicle that went into the ditch, due to the blizzard. Jefferson Police Chief Mark Clouse tells Raccoon Valley Radio his officers issued just four snow ordinance violation citations.

The National Weather Service continues to have Greene County under a blizzard warning until 6pm. Check out our website for cancellation and postponement information, and the Raccoon Valley Radio Network to give you updated road condition reports as well.
