With the 89th Iowa General Assembly set to begin on January 11th, Iowa House Representative for District 19 Carter Nordman has his hopes set for the upcoming session.

With the coronavirus pandemic continuing to blaze through the country, Nordman says it won’t be a surprise when continued handling of the pandemic is discussed.

“Well, I don’t think there is any doubt that it’s going to be number one at the top of the list.”

Nordman says because of the pandemic mental health has become a big issue and it will also be another important focus.

“Mental health has become a big issue during this pandemic with people staying in, people losing their jobs. So, we are going to need to focus on mental health. How can we expand that? Expanding telehealth and especially getting it to students who have really felt the brunt of this pandemic.”

The Iowa General Assembly is set to begin on January 11th and this will be Nordman’s first term after winning November general election.
