The COVID-19 vaccine is starting to be administered in Greene County.
Greene County Public Health Director Becky Wolf explains some of the potential side effects of the Moderna vaccine. She says the typical side effects for the vaccine includes arm and shoulder soreness, along with redness or tenderness at the injection site. Other side effects could include body or joint aches and fatigue. Wolf describes her reaction to when she received the first dose of the vaccine last month.
“I really didn’t have any big issues. I did notice that my shoulder was a little bit sore when I rolled over on it. But it did not incapacitate me, I didn’t need to take any Tylenol or Ibuprofen, I was fine. One of my other nurses, she took it. She had a little bit of arm soreness and she said she noticed just maybe a little bit of headache or some acheness for a day or so, and then it was gone.”
Wolf notes that the side effects can develop one to three days after receiving the vaccine injection, with the symptoms lasting up to 24-hours.
