With 2020 officially over the Dallas County Board of Supervisors is looking forward to 2021 and planning for projects they have on the horizon.

With the recent completion of the new Dallas County Jail facility Supervisor Mark Hanson says the old jail has opportunities of what they can do with it. Hanson says they will be looking to create a secure criminal courts area to transport inmates from the new jail building to the old facility without them going outside for more public safety.

Hanson says another project the county will look into is maintaining archives.

“We’ve got a tremendous number of historical documents going back to original minutes from the county, original township records that we’d like to get stored and documented and archived. They are safe now but we believe we can do a better job of making sure that those are retained so 100 years from now, (or) 200 years from now when we are gone that historians will know what Dallas County might have looked like.”

The Board will have these projects among others moving forward into 2021.
