Thursday, December 31st

11:10am: Chelsea Jessen requested a Welfare Check on a male at 901 West State Street, who seemed depressed. The officer made contact with the male, who advised he was fine and needed no assistance.

3:00pm: Scott Carroll requested Extra Patrol at Chestnut and Park Streets, as numerous people do not stop at the posted Stop Sign at the intersection.

9:06pm: An officer performed a Traffic Stop at 220th Street, near Elm Street with a Speeding Vehicle. During the stop the officer could detect the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. During a Probable Cause Search, marijuana and a smoking device were located. Elizabeth Anne Roper, 18 of Churdan was placed under arrest and charged with, “Possession of Controlled Substance/Marijuana 1st Offense – Serious and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Simple.”

11:59pm: An officer located a parked vehicle at Henderson Park. He spoke to two young subjects in the vehicle and advised them the park was closed. They went on their way.

Friday, January 1st

12:56am: During a Traffic Stop at 220th and Elm Street, the officer learned the driver was Barred. The officer arrested Danielle Janette Dalton, 37 of Jamaica for, “Driving While Barred – Aggravated.”

2:20am: A caller advised of a subject walking on 220th Street, near Mulberry Street. The officer did not locate the reported subject.

2:35am: A Traffic Stop at 220th and Elm Streets resulted in Ramiro Montoya Camacho of Perry being cited for, “Fail to Obey Stop Sign.”

1:40pm: An officer investigated a Rear End Collision on Olive Street, at the intersection with Park Street. A 2016 Chevrolet G3500 Van, owned and operated by Mark Cranston of Jefferson, was southbound on Olive Street. Cranston slowed his vehicle at Park Street and was struck in the rear by a following vehicle. The 2005 Buick Century was owned and operated by Lola Booth of Madrid. The Cranston vehicle had a reported $150.00 in damages to the rear hitch, while the Both vehicle had a reported $1500.00 in front end damages. Booth was cited for, “Fail to Stop within Assured Clear Distance Ahead.”

4:15pm: James Cunningham reported he had given out his banking information to a Scam Caller. The officer advised him to contact his bank and advise them so they can change his account numbers and to watch his credit history for unauthorized activity.

9:10pm: An officer investigated an accident involving a parked vehicle at Russell and Elm Streets. Jeremy Fister was southbound on Elm Street in his 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe. Fister turned east on Russell Street and struck a vehicle parked along the street. The 2016 Toyota Camry was owned by Justin Robbins of Scranton. The Fister vehicle had a reported $1500.00 in damage, while the Robbins vehicle had a reported $2500.00 in damages.

Saturday, January 2nd

11:27am: Bryant Margetta reported a Burglary to the garage at 305 North Chestnut Street. He was in the process of moving from the residence, but still had items there. Several tools, a weed eater and a necklace were missing. The officer is investigating.

4:25pm: A Traffic Stop at 220th and Mulberry Streets resulted in John Cox of Des Moines being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

9:15pm: An officer noticed more lights on than usual at 400 North Elm Street. He found the building to be secure and notified a key holder of the extra lighting on.

Sunday, January 3rd

1:39am: An officer spoke with juveniles parked at 101 Ram Drive. He advised them of the hours of Curfew and sent them home.

1:20pm: A Traffic Stop in the 1600 Block of North Grimmell Road resulted in Brenda Flack of Jefferson being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

2:32pm: Bret MacFarland spoke with an officer in connection to a Civil Property Issue occurring at 304 East Garfield.

3:49pm: Nellie Petterson requested officers at 107 North Olive Street. The officers arrived and learned of a family argument occurring between Peterson and her children. The children left with a grandparent to allow things to cool down.

6:32pm: John Bushman advised his daughter was involved in an argument with her boyfriend at 302 South Elm Street and requested the officer to go there. The officers arrived and made contact with the couple, who advised of a Verbal Argument. The female chose to leave for the evening.

7:45pm: Nellie Petterson advised her children had returned to 107 North Olive and requested an officer. The officer learned they were there to gather belongings for school the next day. The gathered the items and left.

9:29pm: Sparky’s One Stop requested an officer at 606 Hwy. 30 East to remove a male customer, who was causing a disturbance. The officer learned the male subject was attempting to get to Ames. A deputy transported the subject to the Boone County Line.
