A unique fundraiser recently wrapped up in support of Jefferson area businesses.
Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community Retail Revamped Committee sponsored the Dare to Care Challenge. The challenge was to get as many monetary donations as possible to the Welcome Center and every Tuesday in December there would be drawings for $200 in Chamber Checks. To become eligible to win, customers had to sign up at participating retailers.
Committee member Bonnie Silbaugh tells Raccoon Valley Radio $3,800 was raised and given back to 16 $200 Chamber Check winners. She gives her reaction to how well the venture was for everyone involved.
“I think it was really neat that people were willing to donate to a group that just wanted to give money away to other people. I think it made people feel good. We’re already seeing those (Chamber Checks) coming back into our stores, so that will really help. As the first quarter tends to be a little bit slower, kind of the after Christmas, and January tends to be a little bit on the calmer side. Now we have all these Chamber Checks that can continue to be spent around town too. So it can only help.”
Silbaugh appreciates everyone that donated to the Dare to Care Challenge.
