With the recent passing of more stimulus money by the federal government to the public, it’s important for people to be on the lookout for potential scams.

Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn says as stimulus checks start arriving, either through the mail or direct deposit, people should be aware that no one will ask for a processing fee to get you your money faster and to be aware of giving out any personal information if you were to be asked for it in an email or over the phone.

Also, Vaughn says if you do receive those emails or calls try to get the phone number and save your emails to give to local law enforcement so they can investigate the issue.
