Greene County ISU Extension is offering a free online program to help develop young children’s speech and become smarter.
Small Talk is a ten-week, 30-minute online program that is designed to improve a child’s early language skills with interaction and conversation exercises. It is for newborns up to 2 ½ year-olds. At the end of every session, participants can record themselves through the LENA System, which tracks words and gives a report of how much talking there was, when you could talk more and how much you are growing with your baby. Other items participants will receive include take-home parent materials, free “shared reading” books, hands-on activities, and recognition for achievements.
The program will be held on Tuesdays from January 5th-March 9th with sessions from either 1-1:30pm or 8-8:30pm. There is no cost for the program and registrations are done online. Click the links below to sign up for either time slot.
