Even the major snowstorm that hit last week couldn’t alleviate the ongoing drought conditions in the Raccoon Valley Radio-listening area.

According to the National Weather Service, Guthrie Center saw the most snowfall this week, recording 5.8 inches of new snow for 0.51 inches of precipitation. Perry measured in with 5.7 inches of new snow for 0.56 inches of precipitation. Jefferson received 3.9 inches of new snow, amounting to 0.4 inches of precipitation.

The U.S. Drought Monitor lists all of Dallas County as abnormally dry. Nearly all of Greene County is under moderate drought, with the southeast corner abnormally dry. The eastern third of Guthrie County is abnormally dry, with the remainder suffering moderate drought.
