With the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccines in Dallas County, it’s important to understand the possible side effects.

As far as Dallas County goes, Public Health Public Information Officer Ann Cochran says there have been no reports of adverse reactions to the vaccine. Cochran notes the most common things are soreness at injection sites or redness, or a stiff arm. Cochran says nationally some other side effects have happened, too.

“Some people have, nationally, reported a fever or fatigue but those things have all subsided within a day or two. There are very, very rare instances of persons who have known allergies reacting to the virus, and in both of the situations that were reported those people were able to use their own EpiPen to counteract that reaction.”

Cochran says to follow the DCPH social media pages to stay up to date with news on the COVID vaccines.
