The Jefferson Police Department urges motorists to be safe on the roads during the New Years holiday.

The special Traffic Enforcement Program (sTEP) Wave is currently going on as a way for extra law enforcement to be on the roads and focus on impaired drivers. Law enforcement will be looking for motorists that are speeding, not wearing seat belts, driving while under the influence or driving distracted. The Jefferson Police Department urges motorists to be responsible if you are consuming alcohol to not drink and drive. 

The sTEP Wave is in conjunction with the Iowa Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau. The program runs through January 1st.
