Like so many different programs around the state of Iowa and nationally as well, the ADM Tigers had a wild 2020 sports year, things that included a lot of great success and accomplishments from teams and individuals as well.
From the team perspectives, ADM saw their baseball team make it to state for a second consecutive year, playing great baseball down the stretch and getting great play. The softball team was constantly ranked in the top five during the regular season, the girls basketball team had one of their best final records in many years at 15-6, and the boys cross country team made it to state. ADM football played inspired week in and out after losing star player Cole Williamson for the season due to a cancer diagnosis, and played hard for their teammate weekly.
Individually, ADM saw state champions in wrestling with Kaden Sutton winning at 285 and boys cross country with Nate Mueller able to take home his second consecutive crown up in Fort Dodge. Girls basketball players were able to break some records, with Abbie Hlas breaking the school record for points and Delaney Bertman breaking the school record for rebounds. Hlas also concluded one of the greatest runs in ADM softball history, putting together another great final season for the Tigers. Sophomore girls runner Geneva Timmerman was able to run a 6th place finish in Fort Dodge.
One of the biggest things that stood out for the Tigers of course was the global pandemic, which caused the cancellation of their spring sports season. It was difficult for multiple teams with big expectations, and something that will always be remembered.
2020 was a year for the books for the ADM Tiger program, some good, some bad, but athletes represented themselves well on and off the field, kudos to the Tigers on a job well done on being tough throughout this wild year.
