According to the Iowa State University Farmland Value Survey, Iowa’s overall average farmland value is $7,559, which is a 1.7-percent increase compared to 2019. Locally, Greene County had the largest boost of 4.1-percent in land values to $8,336 per acre. Dallas County’s farmland value also increased 0.9-percent to $7,998. Guthrie County had a change of 1.2-percent to $7,080 per acre. 

The factors that were mentioned by respondents were positive and negative. Positive factors included favorable interest rates, limited land supply, and recent commodity price rallies and COVID-related payments, government payments, and strong demand. For negative factors, these included lower commodity prices, COVID-19 pandemic, and weather uncertainty including the derecho, poor yields, and general economic uncertainty.
