As a winter storm came through Dallas County Tuesday, road conditions are continuing to improve.
Dallas County Engineer Al Miller says county road crews are out on gravel and paved roads. He anticipates having all paved roads done by this afternoon and all 650 miles of gravel roads to be completed by the end of the day. He estimates about eight inches of snow fell in the county.
Perry Public Works Director Jack Butler tells Raccoon Valley Radio road crews were out from noon to 8:30pm Tuesday and were back out removing snow at 2am Wednesday. He says all city streets have had salt applied to them for better vehicle traction. Crews are planning to hit the downtown area again Thursday morning.
Dallas County Sheriff Chad Leonard says there were five vehicle crashes and eight motorists that were stranded due to the snow event.
