Raccoon River Valley Trail users can now receive their 2021 permits digitally from the Guthrie County Conservation Board website.
In addition to the passes for the Raccoon River Valley Trail, interpretive trails for Nation’s Bridge Park and Sutcliffe Woodland are also available online for free. Guthrie County Conservation Board Director Brad Halterman explained to the Guthrie County Board of Supervisors at a recent meeting some of the reasons for the increased digital presence, due to the paper system not being as effective.
“That’s how we’ve done it in the past. The problem with those is they get taken and get thrown out on the trail or used as kindling to start fires in places where fires shouldn’t be started. We’re taking some of that out of play, and you know, with modern technology, we might as well make use of it while we can too.”
Annual permits for the Raccoon River Valley Trail are $10 and are valid from January to December of 2021. Users who choose the digital option and save the permit to their phone, or they can print a copy to carry with them. Daily permits are not available for purchase online.
