The Raccoon Valley Radio-listening area will be under a winter storm warning tomorrow.
According to the National Weather Service, Greene, Dallas and Guthrie counties will be under a winter storm warning from 9am Tuesday through 6am Wednesday. Potential hazards with this storm include wet and heavy snowfall of between 4-8-inches, with up to 0.1-inch of ice is possible. It will mostly be snowfall, but with periods of wintry mix and freezing rain happening in the evening and overnight. The National Weather Service has high confidence that there will be at least four-inches of snow for Greene, Dallas and Guthrie counties.
Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams says situations like the one that is coming tomorrow can be stressful for his deputies and other first responders. So advises people to stay home if they can tomorrow.
“Obviously we know this is coming well in advance. So make plans to be home or where you need to be prior to the storm, and have arrangements made to stay close to your work(place) or stay at home during the storm so that we don’t have to continually risk our deputies, and EMS, and fire personnel to go out and rescue people that go into the ditch when they should’ve just stayed home.”
Motorists are reminded to drive to the conditions of the roadway. Stay tuned to the Raccoon Valley Radio Network for winter weather-related updates.
