A COVID-19 vaccine was officially delivered to Greene County earlier this week.

Greene County Public Health Director Becky Wolf says 300 doses of the Moderna vaccine went to her department and the Greene County Medical Center. She notes the initial doses will be given to the first phase of the priority population, including healthcare workers and long-term care residents. Wolf points out the other nursing home facilities opted to get their vaccines from the National Pharmacy Partnership.

Greene County Medical Center CEO Tracy Warner is excited that the vaccine has arrived in the county.

“So being able to have that vaccine actually in hand in Greene County now at the medical center and in public health, obviously does offer that light at the end of the tunnel. And the hope that we can get ahead of this virus being able to administer those vaccines starting here with our healthcare workers and some of our long-term care staff. And then with public health working with other direct healthcare workers in the county to begin the dissemination of the vaccine.”

Wolf says as more doses of the vaccine become available, they will expand their coverage to include more priority groups. Click the link below for additional information regarding the vaccine from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
