As expected, the Food and Drug Administration recently approved Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use, increasing the number of vaccines available nationwide.

Guthrie County Public Health Director Jotham Arber says the department has set a goal for patients vaccinated at each clinic.

“Our target goal per hour in a mass clinic is 50. Usually, we run a clinic like that for four to six hours. If we went longer, a 10-hour clinic at 50 per hour would be 500. Now, that being said, that’s our target. We would be happy with half of that.”

The first phase of the vaccine will only be administered to healthcare workers and long-term care patients in Guthrie County.
