Greene Co Public Health Director Becky Wolf at a November Supervisors meeting
Since last month when Greene County’s 14-day positivity rate of COVID-19 was nearing 26-percent, the rate has leveled off.
According to the State Dashboard as of Sunday, Greene County’s 14-day positivity rate was 11.7-percent, which is a far-cry from November 13th, when the positivity rate was 25.9-percent. Following that high percentage, the County Board of Supervisors implemented a mask mandate, without any way to enforce it, along with the Greene County School Board requiring masks in its buildings as well.
Greene County Public Health Director Becky Wolf shares her thoughts on the free-fall the County’s positivity rate.
“Oh my gosh, I am beyond thrilled. I’m just so proud of all of our community partners, our schools, our providers, (and) everybody out in the public of embracing the idea that if we can mask, and have more people masking, we can bring this rate down. That is a huge thing that we’ve been able to control.”
While Wolf expects there to be an uptick in COVID-19 cases following Christmas, she reminds everyone to continue to follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Iowa Department of Public Health’s guidelines to prevent spreading the virus.
