Due to COVID-19 concerns the annual Tiger-Knight Wrestling tournament in Carroll was changed from an invitational at one site to dual meet tournaments at both Carroll High and Kuemper Catholic. Greene County was assigned to the event at Kuemper Catholic and Coach Zach Beekman’s Rams went 4-0 on Saturday to win the team title. The victories improved the Rams to 5-4 in dual meets and the team is done competing until January.

The day started with a 51-18 victory over Ft. Dodge St. Edmond. Greene County narrowly defeated the host Knights in round two by a 36-34 score. Round three had the Rams wining 46-36 over Westwood (Sloan), before a final round win over Manson-Northwest Webster 39-36. In all but the match with the Gaels had one weight class been a loss instead of a win, the team outcome could have been different. Even losses were helpful in some cases because they were either by regular decision or major decision and not by fall or technical fall, thus surrendering fewer team points.

Greene County filled just 10 of the 14 weight classes with four Rams going 4-0 in matches. They were McKinley Robbins (120/126), John Sprague (126/132), Brady Stauffer (138), and Nate Black (152). Gavin Scheuermann (145), Gunnar Goble (170/182), and Sawyer Schiltz (220/285) were each 3-1. Noble Hoyt (160), James Currier (170/182), and Broc Hammen (220/285) all had 2-2 records.
