The Greene County 4-H award ceremony was held differently this year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Instead of a single-night, in-person event, awards were given to the separate 4-H clubs. The awards highlighted record book keeping, as well as some adult honors. Earning the outstanding record book keeping for the junior 4-H’ers was Becca Anderson and Aden Bardole. The outstanding record book keeping for intermediate 4-H’ers was Elise Badger, Trey Schilling and Cody Stephenson. The senior 4-H’er that earned outstanding record book keeping honors went to Ashlyn Frederick.
The adult awards included: Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame, 4-H Alumni, Honorary 4-H, Friend of 4-H and the Meritorious Award. JoAnne Schnebly was previously recognized as this year’s 4-H Hall of Fame. The 4-H Alumni Award went to Pam Olerich and Dezetta Thompson. Pat Fields, who passed away in 2017, was recognized with the honorary 4-H Award. The Friend of 4-H went to Home State Bank, and the Meritorious Service Award went to Greene County Cattlemen’s Association, as well as the Greene County Lamb and Pork producers.
Finally, 54 adult volunteers were recognized with the Clover Awards for years of service, including 5-35 years, with Don Badger serving the most with 35 years of service to the 4-H program.
