All three varsity sports teams from Greene County High School are scheduled to be in action today.
Greene County hosts its first Basketball Classic in the new high school gymnasium in Jefferson. It involves four games and six different schools. It’s not a tournament, so teams play the game they are scheduled for, then the next teams take the court, and so on. Kuemper Catholic (Carroll) and South Hardin (Eldora) girls begin the day at 11 a.m., followed by the Kuemper Catholic and Ballard (Huxley) boys at 1 p.m.
The Greene County girls host Pocahontas Area at 3 p.m. and the Greene County boys square off vs. Grinnell at 5 p.m. Activities Director Todd Gordon told Raccoon Valley Radio the time schedule will be followed to allow sanitizing and for crowds for one game to leave before fans for the next game move in. Both games involving the Rams will be streamed “live” on KKRF 2.
The wrestlers from Greene County finally opened the dual meet season earlier this week and now they’ll be in their first invitational tournament today. It’s the Tiger-Knight Invitational at Carroll High starting at 9 a.m. The Rams and the host schools, Carroll High and Kuemper Catholic, are scheduled to be joined by Ames, Clarinda, Denison-Schleswig, Manson-Northwest Webster, Pocahontas Area, Ft. Dodge St. Edmond, and Westwood (Sloan).
