With the recent announcement of shipments of COVID-19 vaccines, local public health officials warn of potential scams.
Some COVID-19 vaccines have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration and are on their way to Iowa counties but with that has come the opportunities for scams to try and get your money. Dallas County Public Health Public Information Officer Ann Cochran advises people to not fall for these scams.
“Evidently older Iowans are starting to get phone calls from persons claiming to be able to sell them a ticket for a vaccine. Please do not buy a vaccine over the phone, or on the internet, or try to purchase a place on a waiting list. The vaccines will be free. Clinics will be allowed to charge an administrative fee.”
Cochran says while clinics will be able to charge a fee for the doctor’s visit the vaccines themselves will be free.
