The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School Board approved quotes for furniture and playground equipment for Meadow View Elementary School at their regular meeting Monday.
The Board approved the quotes which will help furnish the new elementary school being built. Superintendent Greg Dufoe says these action items were exciting. Also, Dufoe says the school is still on track to be open and ready by August 2021.
“Our director of facilities gave a construction update and reported that they are on time and ahead of schedule in some of the areas of construction. So we feel really good that the building will be opened, completed, and handed over to us in time for us to start school on time next August.”
The Board also approved the appointments of the Board president, Tim Canney and vice president, Bart Banwart, as well as homeless coordinator, Board secretary/treasurer/school business official, equity/affirmative action coordinator, level 1 investigators, teacher quality committee members, IASB legislative delegate. Also, the Board approved the official district organization, a paper for official publication, naming depositories, and affirmative action plan.
Additionally, the Board voted against offering early retirement incentives and the motion did not pass due to lacking a second on the motion and ADM will not be offering the incentives for the upcoming year. Finally, the Board approved the addition of extra security cameras at Adel Elementary. Dufoe says he recommended to the board that they approve the early retirement incentives.
