A hit and run incident Tuesday night in Grand Junction results in life-threatening injuries.

Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio the incident happened at 8:11pm at the intersection of 16th Street and Sandoe in Grand Junction. The driver of a pickup truck allegedly hit a pedestrian that was walking on the side of the road, and then left the scene. Law enforcement found the pickup at the Casey’s gas station, where the driver was taken in for questioning. Williams says the driver admitted to hitting the pedestrian. 

Williams notes the pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken by Greene County Ambulance to Greene County Medical Center. The individual was later taken by air ambulance to a hospital in Des Moines. The cause of the incident, as well as the names of those involved remain under investigation at this time by Iowa State Patrol. Grand Junction Fire and Rescue, as well as the Greene County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
