Greene County was scheduled to open the high school wrestling season tonight in Adel vs. ADM and Gilbert, but that won’t be happening. A release last night from the Greene County High School Activities Department stated tonight’s wrestling scheduled for Adel has been postponed. The notice further stated that updates to the wrestling schedule will be made as soon as a new date is announced.
This latest interruption to the wrestling schedule means Greene County has lost out on its first three meets of the season. For part of November, the school district was on 100% virtual learning due to 100% virtual. State rules don’t allow any practices for activities of any kind of a district is 100% virtual, so meets scheduled for Dec. 1 and 5 were taken off the Rams’ schedule. The Greene County school district has been back in person since Nov. 30 and the Rams have gotten in about a dozen or so practices.
Coach Zach Beekman’s team will attempt to open the season at the Ogden Dual Meet Tournament this Saturday.
