The Perry Police Department has taken its own precautions since the pandemic began to make sure officers are protected while performing their duties.
Police Chief Eric Vaughn tells Raccoon Valley Radio officers have been instructed to wear their masks whenever possible. Additionally, other precautions have been taken to limit the possible exposure while dealing with the public including using hand sanitizer and personal protective equipment.
“Another thing we are doing is we are wiping down cars every day, after every shift actually and actually bought some equipment to help clean those cars and make sure that they get disinfected so we are not transmitting it not only between our officers but also maybe somebody that we have come in contact with.”
Additionally, officers are putting masks on people they may arrest if they aren’t wearing one already. The Perry Police Department is taking extra precautions as they come in contact with many people during the day.
