Greene Co Sheriff Jack Williams

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office is part of an ongoing federal drug distribution case that seized several pounds of controlled substances.

Following the seven executed search warrants in Jefferson, Waterloo and Van Horne on October 30th that resulted in close to 100-pounds of methamphetamine, marijuana and heroin, along with $28,000 and two firearms being seized, Sheriff Jack Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio even with that bust, it shows that drugs continue to be a problem.

“There’s still quite a bit of methamphetamine and marijuana. I don’t think we’ve ever seized heroin in Greene County before, until now. Fortunately all the drugs that were seized here weren’t being sold here, it was kind of a mid-way point.”

Williams points out with some changes in the legal system, it is making it more difficult for law enforcement to fight the drug world.

“It’s tougher and tougher, and we have to work together to stop, or at least slow it, or keep it at a median to where it’s not growing, because I don’t think we’ll ever stop the drugs.”

Williams appreciates the relationships his office has with the federal and state drug task forces that are involved in this ongoing investigation. According to the press release, no arrests have been made at this time.
