As winter weather approaches, the inclement weather can cause longer commutes and less than ideal driving conditions.

One thing no one likes is coming out in the morning and seeing ice all over their vehicle’s windows. Still, Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn reminds drivers that they need to clean those windows off before leaving in the morning to ensure drivers can see everything clearly, including pedestrians and other drivers.

“Make sure that you get that car warmed up, and the biggest thing is get that windshield clear. Make sure that you can see completely out that windshield. We will see a lot of people driving with a small hole just through the windshield so they can see but clear that whole windshield, so you have a good view of what’s going on.”

If the road conditions are less than ideal, be sure to give yourself more time to get to work, and listen to the Raccoon Valley Radio Network for updates on road conditions, as well as the Iowa Department of Transportation website. You can find the DOT website here
