The Iowa House District 20 representative will take on a new role in the next legislative session.

Republican Ray Sorensen will serve as the chair of the House Economic Growth Committee for the 89th General Assembly when the legislative session begins Monday, January 11.

Sorensen replaces Skyler Wheeler as the head of the committee, which sponsored nine bills during this past session and had 10 others under consideration.

House Speaker Pat Grassley believes Sorensen’s skillset and vision will help him be successful in this new role.

This appointment is Sorensen’s fifth committee assignment. He also served as the chair of the Economic Development budget subcommittee in 2020.
