A deadline has been extended for additional donations to help less fortunate Greene County youth.
Volunteer Sherry Graven is accepting newly purchased toys at the Greene County Engineer’s Office inside the Greene County Courthouse in Jefferson. The donations go toward the Greene County Toys program with New Opportunities. She says 265 children have signed up and they are needing all the help they can get.
“So anybody that wants to donate, we are in dire need because Toys for Tots has not provided very many toys, which normally we get quite a few from Toys for Tots, and we’re not getting that this year. So anyone that wants to stop in at the courthouse, or contact me at the engineer’s office. I can pick it up, I’ll do whatever I need to do to get these kids some toys.”
The Greene County Toys program also received a donation from the Jefferson Kiwanis Club and Wild Rose Casino and Resort in Jefferson. With a one-day donation drive, the Kiwanis Club collected 65 toys and $140. Deadline to submit a donation is by Monday, December 14th. Toys and monetary donations can be made at the County Engineer’s Office or at Greene County New Opportunities.
